📚 Understanding the Periodic Table
Atomic Number:
The number of protons in an atom's nucleus. Each element has a unique atomic number.
Element Symbol:
1-3 letter abbreviation used in chemistry to represent the element.
Element Name:
The full name of the element as recognized by the scientific community.
Atomic Mass:
Average mass of the element in atomic mass units (amu), accurate to thousandths.
Common Charge:
The most common oxidation states or charges when the element forms ions.
Category Colors:
Elements are color-coded by category (metals, nonmetals, halogens, etc.) for easy identification.
